Melanie MacGillivray (Q.Med) received her Chartered Mediator designation in 2004. She has extensive experience in workplace intervention, course development and delivery, and mediation in a wide array of areas, including the federal government and unionized workplaces, family settings (including parent-teen mediation), and civil court. She has a talent for making learning fun and accessible, and has taught/coached across Canada at various post-secondary institutions including the University of Alberta, the RCMP, and for Homewood Health. She is recognized for her ability to bring a calm, focused presence that helps parties navigate difficult situations. Melanie is passionate about the power of interest-based communication and loves to teach others how to prevent and resolve conflict.
She lives on Vancouver Island with her husband, their three almost-grown children, and one adorable dog, Nelson. When she's not working, she loves hiking, paddleboarding (which is mostly just her laying down floating in the gentle waves), and tackling ridiculously big landscaping projects.
